Museum Home Research and Conservation Los Angeles: A Cultural Desert is Blooming

A Day Behind the Scenes at the Getty Center on Saturday, May 31, 2008
Presented by the Getty and TOWN HALL Los Angeles

Once regarded by the rest of the country as a "cultural desert," Los Angeles is in fact a city full of great art collections. Angelenos know that there are plenty of opportunities to visit a museum, gallery, art show, festival, or other cultural event, and some of the greatest collections of photography, sculpture, furnishings, paintings, and installations are scattered throughout our region.

The Getty and TOWN HALL Los Angeles present a day celebrating:

  • the "Greater Collection of Los Angeles,"
  • the showcase pieces of the Getty's various departments, and
  • an insider's conversation about the present and future of the Los Angeles art scene.

Go behind the scenes at the Getty Center and discover Los Angeles's great art collections and gardens. The admission price ($25) includes parking and lunch. Participants will arrive at the Getty Center before it opens and the day will end by 3:00 p.m., allowing time to explore the Museum's current installations, including California Video.

Symposium Schedule (52 KB, 4 pp.)

Admission is $25 and includes lunch. Reservations are required.
