Getty Center Announces New "No Reservations Required" Policy for College Students

January 20, 2000

LOS ANGELES--Effective immediately, college students with current school identification may park at the Getty Center without prior reservations. Parking is $5 per car; admission to the Getty is always free. With this new "no reservations" policy for college students, as long as there is one student with a valid I.D. in the car, everyone can get in.

For the general public, parking reservations are now more readily obtainable, with some available on the same day. The phone number for parking reservations and information is 310-440-7300. As always, there is no need to call ahead for visitors arriving by taxi, shuttle, motorcycle, bicycle, or public bus.

Note to Editors:
The Getty Center is also a great evening destination. Every Thursday and Friday, it is open until 9 p.m. During this time, the Getty offers events including concerts, lectures, and artist talks, often free of charge. Visitors may also explore the Museum galleries, featuring current exhibitions such as Poussin Landscapes by Leon Kossoff, on view through April 16, 2000, and The Body Beautiful: Artists Draw the Nude through February 27. Upcoming exhibitions include Carleton Watkins: From Where the View Looked Best, featuring definitive photographs capturing the majesty of the Western landscape and opening February 15. Departures: 11 Artists at the Getty is a major exhibition of contemporary works commissioned from 11 Los Angeles-based artists which opens February 29.
