Vocal and fiddle-playing phenomenon Eliza Carthy, the leading light in the U.K.'s burgeoning neo-folk movement, performs songs from her major label debut, Angels & Cigarettes. Widely acknowledged as one of the most creative young talents in music today, 24-year-old Carthy has filled her new album with personal, passionate, and intensely affecting songs. She absorbs a rich tapestry of traditional sounds and reinvents them in a melting pot of old and new, captivating lyrics, entrancing vocal melodies, sublime fiddle playing and heartfelt arrangements. Carthy has also appeared as a special guest with acts as diverse as Brian Ferry, Oysterband, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Van Dyke Parks, Joan Baez, and Hugh Cornwall. Produced by Community Arts Resources.

Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Legendary musician, composer, and arranger Van Dyke Parks performs with featured guests Leland Sklar on bass and Grant Geissman on guitar. For more than 40 years, Parks has helped create soundscapes of American life. In addition to scoring films and theater, he has nurtured a solo career highlighted by several solo ablums, including his latest work Moonlighting: Recorded Live at the Ash Grove. Over the years he has collaborated with the Byrds, the Grateful Dead, the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, Ry Cooder, Steve Young, Rufus Wainwright, Eliza Carthy, Smashing Pumpkins, and others. Produced by Community Arts Resources.

Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m.
By The Hand Of The Father combines music by singer/songwriter/guitarist Alejandro Escovedo with stories, poetry, and video to dramatize the unique 20th- century journey of the Mexican-American father. Produced by About Productions, an award-winning theater company, this original work has been described as "soulful" and "uplifting." It is directed by Theresa Chavez and features musicians and actors including Rose Portillo, Kevin Sifuentes, Alejandro Escovedo, and Quetzal Flores.
